Color Craze: Limelight and Sulphur Spring

Limelight and Sulphur Spring - JulRe Designs LLC

You can depend on this color combo to bring the summertime sizzle. Limelight and Sulphur Spring bring new meaning to brightness! They're eye-catching but never gaudy. Always current and filled with the promise of life at its most vivid.

We've been seeing variations of this color duo in fashion for years. Glowy neon yellow-greens have become a staple in activewear and accessories. I designed these Lemon Tree Earrings using these vibrant shades and will always have this palette somewhere within my jewelry collections. But I'm seeing it pop up more for home interiors lately and I love the trend!

I'll admit, I'm not brave enough to incorporate it into my home in a substantial way but I will use it to accent in an area that craves energy. The kitchen below has a proportionate balance that refreshes the senses and doesn't overwhelm. This highly functional room is a natural fit for such "health-conscious" colors.

Bathrooms are unsurprisingly another perfect space for colors that pop. I adore the floor-to-ceiling tiles as a bright focal point. Green and clean!

The color palette is so appealing that I've used it in our company branding and incorporated shades of Limelight and Sulphur Spring into my design studio. Although the slippers chairs you see below are no longer available, this one is a new favorite!

Colorful Quarters: Lighting Fixture Makeover Secrets To Revitalize Any Room

My Colorful Quarters series is always about the cost effective ways you can add color to your home without having to completely renovate the spaces that need a refreshed look. This edition is all about one of the simplest, often forgotten way to make your style and functionality upgrades without breaking the bank.

A lighting fixture update can have a huge impact on your home’s interior design, so get inspired by some of the ways you can update your home’s lighting!

      COLOR YOUR WORLD

Whether you're going for a simple, streamlined contemporary vibe, a flavorful, eclectic bohemian look or just matching your own decor vibe, adding a bit of color with your lighting fixtures is an easy way to inject a new dynamic in any room you want.

Choose colors that suit your personality or the mood you are trying to create. Looking for peace and calm in your bedroom? Try adding pale greens or soothing blues to the shades of your nightstand lamps. Want to turn up the heat in in an otherwise cool, sedate living room? Be daring and hang an ornate orange chandelier or place a brilliant red floor lamp beside a comfy reading chair. The options are endless!

      FIXTURE MIXTURE

There are many types of fixtures for you to choose from:

Chandeliers make the most eye-catching impact. Because they are often looked at as large fixtures, dripping in opulence in a foyer or over a formal dining room table, they are often not a consideration, but they are actually quite versatile and now come in many different shapes , sizes and of course, colors. If you want to create an exciting focal point in any room, they are a fantastic option.

Sconces are the fix for any area you want to bring to life. Whether you use them to spotlight artwork hanging from a wall, feature a beautiful door or to frame a bathroom mirror, they can be an inexpensive option to add color and pop anywhere you desire!

      LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE

Lighting fixtures styles don't just end with Chandeliers and Sconces. Take an existing floor or table lamp, switch out the traditional white shade and add a colorful and/or patterned one for a vibrant room transformation. Use red to add high energy and intensity. Add bronze or gold metallics to create elegant warmth. A strategically placed textured purple shade can provide a regal sophistication. Or opt in to joy and happiness with a cheery yellow.

I was inspired by the fun I had searching for lighting fixtures for a client's room refresh project that I decided to share a few of my finds for you to shop from the product board below:

Colorful Quarters: 16 Radiant Rugs That Will Energize Any Room

It's refresh season! Each new year always spurns the urge to cleanse our lives of all the yuckiness that pervaded our daily existence from the previous year. And I don't know about you but I'd like to wipe away as much of the 'ugh' of 2020 as I possibly can.

Besides burning sage to start the year with positive vibes, I'm looking to give a few rooms in my home some small, impactful shots of energy and life-affirming vibrations.

      RUG RULES

Since your floors are a literal foundation and below your natural eye level when you enter any room, they aren't often considered as significant when it comes to decorating. But I believe a stunning, strategically placed floor covering can change the dynamic of a room faster than any other design element. Flat or fluffy pile? Synthetic or natural fibers? It depends on how your rug will be used. For high traffic areas like a foyer or family room, you might want to consider a low pile wool rug. Low traffic areas such as bedrooms do well with silk blends and mohair.

      DECISIONS, DECISIONS

The key to using a statement rug is making some key decisions before making a purchase. Do you want your floor covering to be the focal point of the room or do you prefer that it play a complimentary accessory role? Your decision will impact how bold or subtle you may want your rug to be. No matter what you decide, for a true energy shift, make it all about as much dynamic color as you can!

Apt2B - Furniture Built to Last

      SIZE MATTERS

Larger rugs help to create a balanced room and placing the all of the furniture at least partially on the rug unifies all of your decor elements. But smaller rugs can be used to divide a larger room into distinct sections. For instance, a round rug can highlight a corner near bookcases and comfortable club chair to create a library/sitting area while a coordinating slim runner can be used in front of a couch to help define a family room section.
